This spring, our 3rd-5th grade students will be participating in the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC) and our 5th graders will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment (WCAS) in science.
Testing Schedule:
- 3rd Grade - April 21-24: ELA; May 27-30 Math
- 4th Grade - May 6-8: ELA; May 28-29: Math
- 5th Grade - May 6-8: ELA; May 21-22: Science; May 28-29: Math
These assessments are an important measure of student learning and give a more accurate picture of a student being college or career ready after high school.
To ensure that all students have the best possible testing experience, we kindly ask families to limit absences, late arrivals, and early dismissals during the testing period. A consistent schedule helps students perform their best and minimizes disruptions for the entire class.
Here’s how you can help:
- Ensure on-time arrival: Testing often begins right after the school day starts.
- Schedule appointments outside of testing hours: If possible, please avoid scheduling doctor, dentist, or other appointments during testing times.
- Plan ahead for emergencies: If your student must be absent, notify the school as soon as possible so we can arrange for a make-up test.
